Character Application
Name: Kuma Otsuka (First name: Kuma, Surname: Otsuka)
Cannon: NO.
Age: 21.
Rank: Jounin-level Rogue ninja.
Village: Village Hidden in the Mist.
Gender: Female.
Picture:
Personality: Kuma is a very aggressive person, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. She loves to get to know people, even if sometimes the person she's investigating feels a little interrogated. She loves to make jokes and laugh loudly, but she also is stubborn and always believes she's right. Kuma is a force to be reckoned with. She angers easy, laughs easy, and believes that confidence is the key to living a good life. Her ninja way: Strength through confidence.
She is also very protective, of essentially anyone. If Kuma has a four minute conversation with someone, and then another person intervenes and tries to start trouble, Kuma will - without hesitation - make it her business to protect the person being scrutinized. Call it 'mama bear syndrome'.
Backstory: The Otsuka family has had a long line of Hidden Mist ninjas, and the final ninja is Kuma, heir to the family. Or she would have been, if she didnt' go Rogue. But more on that in a minute. The Otsuka family has a deep connection with bears. Bears are their spirit animals, and many Otsuka can summon Ninja Bears when in danger. This is why Kuma has bear paw prints tattooed to her left foot. She believes that she should live her life the way that her family's bears do: loud, confident, and without fear. That's why her Ninja Way is "Strength Through Confidence". She has found that if you act comfortable and in charge, you'll make it through any situation and gain respect of others.
Kuma was a talented Kunoichi at a young age and made Chunin at age 12. Not spectacular, but still above average. She quickly rose to the tops of the ranks of her age group, and is also special because of her chakra nature of Wind, which is generally rare. Kuma, however, wanted to see the world. She's an adventurous spirit, and she wanted to visit other places, like other villages. She had a thirst for knowledge that could only be quenched by meeting new people who weren't Mist ninja. At age 18 just after becoming a Jounin, she requested the Mizukage for permission to leave the village and go on a tour of other places. Understandably, the Mizukage rejected this plea, and Kuma was left where she started: bored. Kuma was enraged that her request really was denied and in a rush of anger, she left the Village without fully thinking about the consequences. Now she's a Rogue ninja and a shame to her family. But Kuma tries not to think of it that way. She likes to think that when she's done wandering around she can go back to the Mist and they'll take her back. We'll see how that goes. Until then, Kuma travels from Village to Village without a ninja headband, and is living her life. Kuma's not looking for trouble, and she isn't actively committing crimes. But she is a Rogue ninja because she left her village, and therefore needs to watch her back. Because the Hunter Nin of the Mist are after her.
She finds it hilarious that her chakra nature is Wind, which is a very delicate weapon and she can summon the powers of bears, which is a relatively heavy handed motion.
Ninjutsus: Wind Release: Pressure Damage. (A gust of ripping wind that expands out, blasting away anything that gets in the way)
Wind Release: Wind Sword (By manipulating the wind to make it seem like it's emanating from her fingertips, Kuma can use this super sharp and unblockable sword at any time. If it hits, it cuts. Can reach up to a meter long.)
Wind Release: Petal Scattering Dance. (A cyclone of flower petals that can be directed by the user to destroy enemies. Long range.)
Four Legs Technique. (You know what happens when Kiba Inuzuka wolfs out? Well, that's this. But more bear like. So slower than Kiba, but more powerful.)
Genjutsu: No Genjutsu. Kuma could never quite sit still long enough to master it.
Taijutsu: Kuma prefers Taijutsu to all other Jutsus. She can perform her Ninjutus very well, but she really gets a kick out of hand to hand sparring. She likes to throw heavy-handed punches and relies on power rather than speed, much like a bear. Kuma will punch her opponent and throw her opponent, but rarely kicks. Kuma likes to push and ground fight. But if her opponent out-matches her greatly in the field of sheer strength and size, that's when she resorts to her Ninjutsus.
Does your Character have a Visual Jutsu? Sharingan, Byakugan, Rinnegan?: Nope.
Can you summon animals? Tell us about it: Her family has a long-standing tradition of summoning Ninja Bears. Kuma's bear, Shimai, is a female mama brown bear who stands at ten feet tall on her back legs. Shimai has been working with Kuma since Kuma was a young teen. Shimai is more level headed than Kuma. Kuma and Shimai work together, usually when Kuma feels like she needs extra strength on her side. Shimai also has an excellent nose, and is great for when Kuma thinks she's being followed or needs to find an enemy.
